Where to find us

Sticky Fish Pre-School is located within Fishponds Baptist Church. If you walk though the car park and follow signs, the pre-school is located to the rear of the church. We have an exciting outdoor play space and several classrooms inside where we plan appropriate opportunities for their learning and development.

The preschool is easy to get to by car and we have a small car park on site. Bus routes 48, 48a, and the 49, go from Easton to Straits Parade in Fishponds which is very close by Fishponds Baptist Church.

The Early Years Foundation Stage

We believe that children learn best when they are provided with stimulating, open-ended play opportunities and are supported through warm and caring relationships. When your child begins at Sticky Fish, they will be given a key worker who will be responsible for helping them settle into the pre-school. Our key worker system promotes positive relationships, helping practitioners gain valuable knowledge and understanding of the needs and interests of each unique child, which enables them to plan appropriate opportunities for their learning and development. We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is the statutory framework for all early years settings in England.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes you different?

We all love to simply play with the children; you will see us joining in with make-believe play, or spattered with paint, water and sand, or running after the children in an exciting game of “What’s the time Mr Wolf”! We ALL have fun at Sticky Fish!

What matters most to us is the personal, genuine love and care for the children.

We have a particularly high ratio of staff to children, not falling below one qualified staff member/experienced volunteer to every six children, frequently to every five children.

We are a committed community service with families who have been really supportive to us. All families feel warmly welcomed, with a personal concern that we think is unique to Sticky Fish.

How much does it cost?

It costs £12 per 3 hour morning session (9.30 until 12.30) for children who have not entered the term after their third birthday, and are not eligible for the government funding for 2 year olds. We alsohave the option to stay for a lunch club between 12.30pm and 1pm for a small extra fee of £2 for children that attend in the mornings,
We also offer additional extended hours for over 3’s (12.30 until 2.30) for £10, which includes the lunch club.

Ofsted December 2016 – Good

Dear Liz and all the girls at Sticky Fish

Its the end of the chapter. Sticky Fish has been a part of our lives for almost 5 years and we are so grateful for all your care, devotion and hard work. You have given both Elsa and Rafi such a wonderful and steady start in their education. The consistency and ‘family’ feel that Sticky Fish provides, gave us reassurance and comfort for our children’s most tender years. I’m so sad Rafi’s time with you was cut short.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, for being so kind and loving towards both Elsa and Rafi. You will be very much missed

Love Susie and Hugo
