We are a Pre-School catering for children aged 2½ – 5, based at Fishponds Baptist Church in the Fishponds area of Bristol. Sticky Fish Pre-School is open during term time only, Monday to Friday between 9:30am and 12:30pm for 2½ – 5 year olds, with extended hours up to 2.30pm for 3 and 4 year olds.
Sticky Fish is a fully inclusive pre-school and welcomes all children. We aim to offer a happy, safe and caring environment for all the children, to develop their learning potential through play.
Where to find us
Sticky Fish Pre-School is located within Fishponds Baptist Church. If you walk though the car park and follow signs, the pre-school is located to the rear of the church. We have an exciting outdoor play space and several classrooms inside where we plan appropriate opportunities for their learning and development.
The preschool is easy to get to by car and we have a small car park on site. Bus routes 48, 48a, and the 49, go from Easton to Straits Parade in Fishponds which is very close by Fishponds Baptist Church.
The Early Years Foundation Stage
We believe that children learn best when they are provided with stimulating, open-ended play opportunities and are supported through warm and caring relationships. When your child begins at Sticky Fish, they will be given a key worker who will be responsible for helping them settle into the pre-school. Our key worker system promotes positive relationships, helping practitioners gain valuable knowledge and understanding of the needs and interests of each unique child, which enables them to plan appropriate opportunities for their learning and development. We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is the statutory framework for all early years settings in England.

What makes you different?

What matters most to us is the personal, genuine love and care for the children.
We have a particularly high ratio of staff to children, not falling below one qualified staff member/experienced volunteer to every six children, frequently to every five children.
We are a committed community service with families who have been really supportive to us. All families feel warmly welcomed, with a personal concern that we think is unique to Sticky Fish.

Sticky Fish is a caring, nurturing and inclusive pre-school that upholds Christian family values. In keeping with these values, we actively welcome and embrace people from all faiths, or none.
It is our aim that all children will be able to experience a playful, safe and fun environment.
We will build positive relationships with children and their parents/carers, by working in partnership with them, so enabling each child to thrive.
We want to begin a lifelong love of learning in each child by facilitating and inspiring their creativity, curiosity and confidence. We will endeavour to do this by providing the opportunity to participate in developmentally appropriate activities. We offer a daily flexible routine with an emphasis on free-flow play, in an environment where children can experiment without fear of failure; where fun is at the heart of what we do.
Everyone at Sticky Fish believes that for children to develop and flourish, then they must feel significant, happy and secure.
Staff know all the children well and use their knowledge of how children learn to provide a broad range of stimulating and challenging activities. Children make good progress in their learning.
