About Sticky Fish

Our Ethos

Sticky Fish is a Christian pre-school that welcomes and embraces everyone; that seeks to be caring, nurturing, and inclusive, by showing love and compassion to all.

We inspire our children’s creativity, curiosity, and confidence through play, where fun is at the heart of what they do.

The children at Sticky Fish experience a playful, safe and fun environment that fully supports their personal, social, emotional, and spiritual development.

We believe that children develop and flourish when they are nurtured to feel significant, loved and secure.

Outdoor learning

We believe that children learn best when they are provided with stimulating, open-ended play opportunities and are supported through warm and caring relationships. When your child begins at Sticky Fish, they will be given a key worker who will be responsible for helping them settle into the pre-school. Our key worker system promotes positive relationships, helping practitioners gain valuable knowledge and understanding of the needs and interests of each unique child, which enables them to plan appropriate opportunities for their learning and development. We use the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is the statutory framework for all early years settings in England.

Frequently asked questions

Have questions? We have the answers!

What makes you different?

What matters most to us is the personal, genuine love and care for the children.

We all love to simply play with the children; you will see us joining in with make-believe play, or spattered with paint, water and sand, or running after the children in an exciting game of “What’s the time Mr Wolf”! We ALL have fun at Sticky Fish!

What’s the ratio of staff to childen?

We have a higher than Government guidance ratio of staff to children. We regularly have five children to one qualified member of staff or fully trained volunteer.

A typical day would see 20 children to four qualified members of staff and one volunteer/student.

How much does it cost?

It costs £14 per 3 hour morning session (9.30 until 12.30) for children who have not entered the term after their third birthday, and are not eligible for the government funding for 2 year olds. We also have the option to stay for a lunch club between 12.30pm and 1pm for a small extra fee of £2.50 for children that attend in the mornings. Here is a full breakdown of fees.

How do I sign up for next year?

Please fill out this reservation form and email it to us at stickyfishpreschool@hotmail.co.uk and someone will get back to you to let you know what spaces are available.

Staff are caring and provide a nurturing and welcoming environment at the pre-school. The thoughtfully set up environment motivates children to explore and develop their skills. Children are busy and active in their exploration. They develop their physical skills well.
